Acid Survivors And Women Welfare Foundation: A Kanoria Foundation Initiative
In 2020, almost 182 acid attacks cases happened in our country and 60 attempted to attack access. There are many other incidents also but not registered in official documents.
The trauma and pain that these acid attackers go through in their life are beyond our imagination. But unfortunately, most of these cases are happening in our women’s community especially, with just a single splash their whole become a pathetic thing.
The ‘Acid Survivors and Women Welfare Association” was formed by the initiative of both Kanoria Foundation and SREI, our aim is to help in changing the lives of these cases, survivors. Under the generous vision of the founder, Mr. Hemant Kanoria, the association let the survivors go through several mental and physical courses to give the best care that they can. The basic idea of ASWWF, similar to other humanitarian associations under the Kanoria Foundation, are guided by their tough belief of humanity and ethics towards each of their work.
Before Going Too Late: Prevention And Advocacy By The Kanoria Foundation
On 13th September 2014, ASSWF has organized a seminar on “Acid Violence: Challenges and Remedies”. The seminar is attended by over 100 participants from attorneys, NGOs, doctors and even students also. In the seminar, it was discussed following the rules of the Supreme Court on restricting on selling acids in the market. ASSWF also wrote letters to the Chief Secretaries of several states and also to the Director-General of Police about maintaining the orders about selling acids openly by the Supreme Court.
In addition to all these, ASSWF in association with Kanoria Foundation and SREI has created a framework that will give recommendations to all our stakeholders and authorities to each level ranging from judiciary and media to government health department about taking proper measures on every level towards training, justice and awareness.
There For You: Rehabilitation, Care and Treatment By The Kanoria Foundation
The ASSWF by the SREI and the Kanoria Foundation under the guidance of Mr. Hemant Kanoria, are started to train the service providers in a different way so that they can understand the trauma victims and can treat and give full care accordingly. This slowly will help the service providers to treat in a much better way than earlier.
Seasonal unemployment is among the major issues that are faced every year in our country. Offering good education and skills to the women will help them to handle their family in a better way in these crunch situations.
ASWWF is also setting up good advertisement systems as well about their schemes and products in all villages and rural areas and even in cities so that many people come to know about these things.
These are some small schemes that are a part of Kanoria Foundation’s future plans about the goals that we are thinking of about minimizing the acids attacks in our country and also about educating the underprivileged women society of our country. This will help the acid attack survivors in getting proper psychological and medical care that they are in need of.
